Janice Gayles was born October 6, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to Nora Anderson and Walter Lee James. She was the fourth child of five children.

Janice found and accepted Christ St. John M.B. Baptist church.

On March 19, 2012 our kind and loving mother was called to the heavenly gates to join Nora (mother), Walter (father), Andre (son) and Betty (sister).

Janice leaves to cherish her memories with her children Elice (Jake), Juanita, Martese, Laquesha, Whitney, and her baby boy Andrew (her pride and joy). Janice had fifteen grandchildren, Devance, Mike'keshia, Jovan, Michael, Jake Jr., Cedasia, Antoine, Ja’quari, Arianna, Arial, Anyah, Desaray, Aaliyah, and one great grandchild Shanyra, Her sister Elizabeth (Otis) two brothers, Gerald and Walter. Eight nieces Roslyn, Gwendolyn (Wilson), Katrina, Chera, Coretta, Charrise, Tamala, and Latoyia. Six nephews: Sidney, Eric (Beverly), Carl, Gerald Jr., Fredrick (Marquita), Walter Jr., A special friend of many years Eugene Gayles and two good friends Donna Scott and Vera Coleman and a host of other family and friends.

Janice attended and graduated Wadsworth Elementary School. Then continued her education at Wendell Phillips High School.

Janice loved to help people, mainly seniors. She loved to help people so much, that she became a personal care provider with Catholic Charities, where she worked for over 10 years.
