Edythe Thelma Robinson Franklin, member of Trinity United Church of Christ, was the sixth child born to the late John and Estella Robinson of Chicago, IL. on August 27, 1921 and widow of Ezra Franklin, who preceded her in death, 1988. To this union two beautiful daughters were born, Vivienne and Adrienne.
Edythe received her primary education from The Edmund Burke Elementary School her secondary education from the "old" Englewood High School, two years Pre-Med education from the former Wilson Jr. College, two years of typing and Business English from Peters Business College, received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Chicago State University and later received and earned three credits and certification in Theology via the Chicago Archdiocese of Chicago.
Edythe's primary interest was Science and Nursing which also served in administrating her goals with children.
Edythe taught mainly in Parochial Schools with some experience tutoring and teaching with the Archdiocese and also the Chicago Public Schools. Edythe reinforced love, care and guidance within teaching.
It was during her employment as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher that Edythe became interested in the development of pre-school children. Her objective was to teach creative concepts designed to aid in the teaching of basic skills needed as a foundation for entering formal schools.
Edythe began teaching and administrating her goals at the former Parkway Kiddie Kollege Nursey Nursery School on August 28, 1978 until her retirement in June of 1987.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two lovely daughters - Vivienne D. Franklin of Calumet City, IL. and Adrienne M. Bodell of Hollywood, CA; two sisters in-law - Violette (Robert) Robinson of Calumet City, IL and June (Freddie) Springs of Waukegan, IL; four brothers in-law - Samuel Springs of San Francisco, CA, Tom (Mattie) Fishman of North Chicago, IL, Andrew Franklin of Chicago, IL and Ronney (Paulette) Davis of Chicago, IL; nieces, Teresa (Stan) Banaszak of Highlands Ranch, CO and Estella (Marshall) Cohen of Chicago, IL; great nieces - Robyne Nelson of Encino, CA and Zana Marino of Chicago, IL; great nephew - Matthew Cohen of Chicago, IL; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
